First, the Bad News

A government survey reports that more elderly in Hong Kong are living alone and in care facilities. They need to be educated on how to age healthily.

A survey found that in Hong Kong, a miscellany of school-related expenses, such as books, uniforms, stationery, school internet and air-conditioning fees, amount to an average of HK$2,674 – enough to give many deprived families a headache. On top of that, textbooks cost about HK$3,000. Children from these families need the same opportunity for personal development as their wealthier peers.

There are 58 million left behind children and 19 million migrant children in China. Their one solid hope of climbing out of poverty is through education.

Now the Good News

You can be the one who brings these people life-changing programmes through HOPE worldwide. Be a friend of HOPE worldwide and donate monthly. When more people give monthly, our administration and fundraising expenses are reduced. The financial stability allows us to focus more on serving and on developing our programmes to benefit more people who need it.

Bringing the Good News to the Streets

Every day, a team of fundraising ambassadors dressed in HOPE worldwide uniforms and carrying ID badges are stationed outside of MTR stations, bus stations, or shopping malls. They introduce the scope of our work to members of the public and invite them to become our monthly donors. Sometimes, when people are interested, they help them to sign up as our volunteers.

Fundraising ambassadors NEVER ask for or accept cash or cheque donations on the street.

Together, We Can be the Solution

At HOPE worldwide, we believe it takes more than one person, one organization, to bring about changes in our communities. That is why we constantly strive to work with donors and volunteers to bring life-changing educational and health services to poor children and needy elderly in Hong Kong and China.
