A Boxing Day Surprise in Shek Kip Mei 23-Feb-2010

What do you usually do on Boxing Day?

Most of us make it a day of rest after all the Christmas parties. We sleep in, see what gifts we missed under the tree, plan our New Year's eve programme...

Sixty-eight volunteers from the New Territories Campus Sector of the Hong Kong Church of Christ chose to make it a day of service on Boxing Day, 2009. Along with HOPE worldwide, they organized a carnival, "Christmas Everywhere", for the children living in one of Hong Kong's poorest districts.

Close to a hundred kids came and enjoyed eight different booth games. The volunteers also gave out 145 presents donated by members of the church, spreading joy and cheer to those who may need a little help enjoying the holidays.

The kids spent an exciting and happy day. The volunteers spent a meaningful day, living out "it is more blessed to give than to receive."
